Here are eight basic meditation and yoga techniques for kids.

 Mindful breathing:

Mindful breathing helps youngsters to focus on their breath, which can help them relax and reduce stress.

Meditation with a body scan:  

Children may learn about the many parts of their bodies through body scan meditation, which fosters attention and calm.

Next steps: Get your youngster to lie down in a comfortable position. Ask them to concentrate on every body area, starting at their toes and working your way up to their head, noting any stiffness or discomfort. As they concentrate on it, help them to relax each component.

Exercise using the five senses:

This activity activates children’s senses, allowing them to remain grounded and present in the moment.

Steps: Have your youngster sit quietly and concentrate on their surroundings. Ask them to mention five visible things, four tactile things, three auditory things, two olfactory things, and one gustatory item. This technique promotes attention and awareness.

Infant stance (Balasana):

This stance helps to quiet the mind and decrease tension, which promotes relaxation.

The next step is to have your kid sit back on their heels, bend down on the floor, and extend their arms forward so that their forehead is lowered to the floor. In this position, encourage them to take deep breaths and to unwind.

Vrksasana (tree pose):

Tree position enhances balance and attention, promoting a sense of stability.

Steps: Have your kid stand on one leg, with the sole of the other foot on the inner thigh or calf. To maintain balance, have them place their hands in a prayer posture in front of their chest and focus on a spot in front of them.

Cat-cow position (Marjaryasana – Bitilasana):

This smooth transition between two positions helps to reduce tension in the spine and promote relaxation.

Steps to take: Have your youngster start on their hands and knees. Inhale and arch your back (Cow Pose), then exhale and circle your spine (Cat Pose). Encourage them to move slowly and in time with their breath.

The butterfly posture, or baddha konasana,

This position eases tension and promotes relaxation by stretching the hips and groin.

Steps to take: Have your kid sit with their feet together and knees bent, allowing their knees to drop to the sides. Encourage them to grip their feet while gently flapping their knees up and down like butterfly wings.

Legs up the wall position (Viparita Karani).

This restorative position promotes relaxation, decreases anxiety, and calms the mind.

Steps to take: Have your kid lie on their back, legs outstretched against a wall. Encourage them to close their eyes, take deep breaths, and relax in this posture for a few minutes.
